I dont think i will ever get over how amazing it is to fly.
Every time im in a plane, i get this overwhelming feeling of how small we really are. Every time the plane takes off when you first feel that air under the wheels, its like a small high. At that moment, you are free, speeding into the sky going straight for the clouds and for the next 3 hours you will be the only living thing you see up there. I can only imagine what the Wright Brothers felt like years ago.
I also think alot about what brought everyone on that plane to that moment in time. Everyone always has a different story and a different path that led them to the exact same plane as you. Some travel for business, some for pleasure and some out of desperation and out
of all those stories you will only hear about 1 or 2. The person next to you might tell you their whole life story or you may hear it onthe cell phone call of the person two rows ahead of you before the plane takes off. Either way you all share together that moment in the sky.
Recently I heard that cell phone companies are in the process of making their signals reach as far as 30,000 up...can you imagine what a flight would be like if every one on the flight could talk on their cell phone. It seems so outlandish. But then again, you can talk in buses and trains now, and that is normal. So its only a matter of time.
I just think being in the sky is so unique because for just a moment you are looking down on life and down on the world with a view undisturbed by the troubles that lie there...simply a view of pure peace. Everything looks so peaceful and happy from above. The clouds flow perfectly, the houses are lined up perfectly, the mountains curve with perfect form. And then you hear over the loudspeaker "we have begun our final desent" and you realize that reality is only moments away. I like getting lost in my thoughts up there in the sky. Its the best place to think, to work, to sleep and to really live in a moment in time.
My flight leaves in 3.5 hours.
West coast bound.
And as I cross the continent im looking forward to losing my thoughts up there in those clouds.
